Swan 4MF-R Bayonet Filter for Limescale Reduction

The Swan 4MF-R is a bayonet filter cartridge designed to reduce total water hardness and prevent limescale formation in drinking water.

The Swan 4MF-R is the Swan-branded equivalent of the Water Pro ZS11 and uses strong gel-type cation exchange resins that operate through an ion exchange process.

Unlike activated carbon filters, the Swan 4MF-R is primarily designed to address water hardness, helping to limit limescale precipitation and deposits inside appliances and water treatment systems.

It is particularly suitable for applications where water is heated or nebulised, where limescale can affect equipment efficiency and component life over time.

Cation Exchange Resins for Water Hardness Reduction

The Swan 4MF-R uses strong gel-type cation exchange resins to treat total water hardness through ion exchange.

Temporary hardness is mainly associated with calcium and magnesium bicarbonates, while total hardness also includes permanent salts. The ion exchange process allows the filter to address total hardness and helps reduce limescale formation.

The treatment does not alter the pH of the water.

Reducing water hardness also helps protect heating elements, nozzles, components and appliances from limescale deposits.

Capacity from 185 to 530 Litres

The Swan 4MF-R capacity depends directly on the hardness of the incoming water.

The capacity can range from approximately 185 to 530 litres: harder water results in lower filter capacity, while softer water allows a higher capacity.

For this reason, a single universal capacity value cannot be specified. Cartridge replacement should be assessed according to the quality of the treated water and the actual operating conditions.

The Swan 4MF-R provides a nominal flow rate of 1.15 litres/min, higher than the Swan 2MF-R model.
